Introducing ProtoCloud IaaS by Webair

Introducing ProtoCloud IaaS by Webair

NEW YORK, NY, March 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Webair, a leading provider of Cloud Hosting and Managed solutions, announced ProtoCloud, the newest addition to its highly popular family of cloud hosting services. ProtoCloud is Webair’s true Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud offering. Built with scalability and availability in mind, ProtoCloud provides IaaS scalability on top of a highly available foundation. By default, and at no additional costs, ProtoCloud instances are provisioned with no single points of failure via the use of redundant & scalable computing nodes, Network infrastructure, SAN and FusionIO storage.

ProtoCloud comes with an easy to use management interface and integrates with a number of Webair’s existing service offerings including Cloud Storage, Carrier Neutral Cloud, FusionCloud, CDN services, and dedicated servers. Webair clients can interconnect ProtoCloud instances with other dedicated or virtual servers via secure internal networks to form true hybrid solutions. A RESTful API makes it convenient for customers to integrate ProtoCloud into their applications, requiring minimal administration and management.

“We’ve added ProtoCloud to our portfolio of Cloud services to provide our clients with true highly available IaaS out of the box without the complexity or the guess work it takes to build it themselves. The ability for clients to integrate ProtoCloud with various other Cloud hosting and traditional hosting services means highly customized and hybrid environments can be built to match even the most demanding needs ,” said Gerard Hiner, Executive Sales Manager at Webair.  ProtoCloud’s on-demand provisioning and utility billing models provide customers with an easy way to utilize the infrastructure for requirements such as Big Data analytics, NoSQL database workloads, load balanced web hosting and application testing/ development at a low cost resulting in excellent value for clients.

ProtoCloud integrates seamlessly with EZPanel, Webair’s popular, feature rich control panel. Customers can sign up for ProtoCloud with the click of a button and easily add additional services such as CDN, dedicated servers and FusionCloud to their account from within EZPanel.  ”Our customers can conveniently manage all their hosting resources from EZPanel’s friendly interface. Likewise, resource allocations and bandwidth can be aggregated between services and shown on the same bill. This empowers our clients with a true end-to-end solution that allows them to match use cases to the most appropriate solutions, and all under a fully managed umbrella of our ServerGenius support,” said Sagi Brody, CTO of Webair.

ProtoCloud will be launched first in Webair’s NY1 datacenter and will be expanded to Amsterdam, Los Angeles and Montreal in the coming weeks. Designed around industry standard best practices and security, ProtoCloud provides a robust computing platform that delivers on performance, convenience and reliability.

Webair Successfully Completes SSAE 16 Examination for NY1 Data Center

Webair Successfully Completes SSAE 16 Examination for NY1 Data Center

NEW YORK, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Webair, a global leader in cloud hosting and managed services, announced today the successful completion of control procedures and compliance for its NY1 data center as verified in a Service Organization Control Report (SOC 1) prepared under the terms of SSAE 16 by independent auditing firm BrightLine CPAs & Associates, Inc.

“Not only are we devoted to our clients ever growing technological needs, but we are also focused on operating our data centers and facilities at the highest regulatory standards that our industry allows,” said John Rugolsky, Operations Manager, Webair.

SSAE 16, developed by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB) of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), replaces SAS 70, which was the standard used for reviewing service organization control processes for nearly two decades.

BrightLine CPAs & Associates, Inc, performed an independent examination and extensive testing of control activities and effectiveness at Webair’s NY1 data center, with a full assessment of:

-  Physical Security
- Operations and customer service
- Development and information technology organization
- Risk assessment monitoring

The controls addressed in SSAE 16 are those that a service organization implements to prevent, or detect and correct, errors or omissions in the information it provides to user entities. SSAE 16 report assures potential and existing clients that Webair’s policies and procedures are sound and that critical Internet services and data are secure. Webair customers can request a copy of the report, which should make it easier for them to pass their own SSAE 16 audit.

“We want these results to be accessible to all of our clients to not only show them our dedication to their success, but also, our commitment to providing the security and safety that their business deserves,” added Mr. Rugolsky.

Located in Garden City, NY, Webair’s flagship data center known as NY1 is the most secure and redundant facility east of New York City.  Strategically located 25 miles outside Manhattan, NY1 boasts the lowest network latency to Europe via direct feeds to Transatlantic fiber. Offering a full range of managed services, cloud hosting and disaster recovery suites, NY1 provides for all of a company’s Internet needs.

Webair completes network upgrades in NY1 facility providing 200Gbps of dedicated capacity to its Cloud Computing cluster

NEW YORK, Jan. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Webair Internet Development Inc., a global leader in Managed Services and Cloud Hosting infrastructure has announced the completion of a series of network upgrades designed to vastly increase its cloud infrastructure’s network connectivity and redundancy. The upgrades involved the installation of new Cisco and Juniper networking equipment which provide dedicated routing capabilities to its cloud computing infrastructure. The upgrades, which were performed during scheduled maintenance windows did not affect any client services, a testament to Webair’s network resiliency and redundancy. The end result of the work performed is an overall increase of dedicated bandwidth of 200Gbps. The new network configuration also greatly increases the amount of traffic that can be processed and the ability to prevent and block DDoS attacks. New and existing clients can now also order cloud servers with dedicated 10GB network interfaces.

The upgrade also further enhances Webair’s Carrier Neutral Cloud service, which allows customers to use any bandwidth provider of their choice with Webair’s cloud computing platform. “Webair’s flexible network topology allows us to easily perform upgrades to stay ahead of our clients’ demands while not impacting any customer services. As the lines between physical and virtual networks blur, Webair continues to enhance its network stack by providing a scalable network layer which can facilitate any hybrid cloud configuration,” said Billy Choe , Senior Network Engineer, Webair.

Undeniable Benefits of Webair’s FusionCloud Technology:

In the world of cloud servers, speed and reliability are everything.

Unfortunately, today’s industry standard is to provide clients with no more than 100 IOP/s or Input/Output Operations Per Second. For those that aren’t aware, IOP/s are a common performance measurement typically used to benchmark large and small data transfers. The problem with this minimal performance is that it isn’t suitable for resource intensive applications like database servers, video encoding, or even industrial content delivery. Enter Webair FusionCloud, providing the fastest disk speeds available in the Cloud – PERIOD.

Every one of our FusionCloud servers is set up to not only meet, but exceed any previous expectation. Our FusionCloud servers are equipped to deliver a Fusion-io volume guaranteed to deliver 10,000 IOP/s. Consequently, our FusionCloud servers are 100 times faster than other cloud providers and even most powerful “physical” servers!

Additional Benefits of Webair FusionCloud Technology

A major benefit of Webair FusionCloud Servers is High Availability. With our cloud computing infrastructure each business subscribed harnesses the fault tolerance of enterprise grade hypervisors (or virtual machine managers) to keep the cloud servers up and running without downtime!

With Webair FusionCloud we can guarantee users will achieve 10,000 IOP/s speeds through provisioning slices between the physical Fusion-io cards. This provides our clients with the smoothest and most reliable experience available. Webair FusionCloud servers are compatible with Linux, Windows, and BSD operating systems and available as either Managed or Self managed plans.

Perfect for Your Resource Intensive Applications:

  • Large Database Servers: No need to setup complex multi-server database cluster. Scale up to 8 CPUs, 144GB of ram, and 10K IOP/s. Perfect for database servers.
  • Video Encoding: Simultaneously encode multiple videos without reaching disk limitations.
  • Big Data Analytics: Seek and read data faster and keep your data in the cloud.
  • Web Servers: Never worry about spikes in traffic again. Perfect for custom CDN nodes.

  • When a business is considering any change to its infrastructure they need to have the added benefit of working with someone in a live capacity. Webair Cloud Storage Services Reach New Heights with EMC Isilon

Webair Cloud Storage Services Reach New Heights with EMC Isilon

SEATTLE, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced that Webair, a global leader in web hosting and managed services for companies of all sizes, has deployed EMC(®) Isilon(®) scale-out NAS to provide its clients with reliable, fast, easily scaled cloud storage. The EMC Isilon X-Series was deployed to replace its legacy storage systems, which were costly to acquire and cumbersome to maintain. As Webair’s customer base and Big Data storage needs grew, the company needed an easier, more flexible and cost-effective storage infrastructure. By implementing EMC Isilon, Webair is saving money and offering more flexible, automated storage services to clients.

    Customer Challenges and Solution:

Prior to the deployment of the EMC Isilon-based Webair Cloud Storage Service, each Webair client was provided a dedicated storage system. To accomplish full redundancy, standby appliances and more complex configurations were often required. This legacy configuration created additional management overhead and resource requirements, given the large number of storage systems Webair had deployed. Once Webair converted clients to its new Cloud Storage Service, built on an Isilon infrastructure, the company was able to remove all the capacity and speed limitations associated with standalone systems, reduce data center power and cooling draw, and provide clients with a more scalable and redundant solution, thus reducing customers’ costs and its own operating expenses.

In September 2008, Webair rolled out its first Isilon deployment. Webair was among the first to take advantage of Isilon support for Virtual LANs (VLANs). VLANs enabled Webair to easily segment Isilon storage for each client for security and privacy purposes. With Isilon’s ease of scaling and unique “pay-as-you-grow” model, Webair’s clients only pay for the capacity they use, which can be easily increased as needed.

Isilon X-Series, along with Isilon SmartQuotas and SmartConnect, has significantly simplified storage management for both Webair and its clients. Webair developed its own custom API to run on top of the Isilon system and management tools. Webair’s customized configuration enables the company to automatically add and delete clients, and lets clients increase cloud storage capacities or restore from a snapshot without requiring support from Webair. Webair is also able to automatically invoice clients based on their cloud storage usage.

    Customer Benefits:

    – Reduced costs – By deploying Isilon, Webair was able to eliminate 100 legacy storage systems in its data center, saving hundreds of thousands of dollars in capital expenditures as well as in electricity and other costs.

    – Flexible storage services for clients – Webair clients pay only for the storage they use and can easily increase capacity as needed, which saves them money and makes Webair’s client offerings more competitive.

    – Improved performance – Isilon outperformed the legacy storage systems, especially when processing large client files such as streaming video.

    – Easy scalability – Isilon scale-out architecture and software enables Webair to seamlessly manage an increase of hundreds of terabytes every year with no additional staff required.

    Customer Quote:

Sagi Brody, chief technical officer, Webair
“EMC Isilon provides us with increased functionality so that we can match the right storage solution to the specific client use case. Clients no longer need to invest in dedicated storage systems based on growth projections. Instead, they can order a cloud server from Webair with the CPU, memory, and storage resources they need, pay only for what they use today, and scale easily. Clients get the performance and capacity that a dedicated storage system would give them, along with the benefits of having that system securely in the cloud. They experience the best of both worlds.”

EMC Quote: Sam Grocott, vice president of marketing, EMC Isilon
“Web hosting and cloud services are extremely competitive industries. By deploying EMC Isilon for its storage infrastructure, Webair is staying one step ahead of competitors. They’ve significantly reduced their CapEx and other costs while giving clients secure, reliable, scale-out cloud storage. It’s a win for both Webair and its clients.”

    About Isilon

Isilon, a division of EMC, is the global leader in scale-out NAS. We deliver powerful yet simple solutions for enterprises that want to manage their data, not their storage. Isilon’s products are simple to install, manage and scale, at any size. And, unlike traditional enterprise storage, Isilon stays simple no matter how much storage is added, how much performance is required or how business needs change in the future. We’re challenging enterprises to think differently about their storage, because when they do, they’ll recognize there’s a better, simpler way. Learn what we mean at http://www.isilon.com.
